Hiya Folks, expect Release versions of 38 for all platforms over the next 24hours :)
This version fixes the chat and IM log mess, all .txt files again. After some testing a significant vector for crashing was discovered in the test version ( this has been plugged ) pending an improved fix.
Altair has been working on the linux version which should be out shortly with much much improved stability and performance.
OK THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!
After feedback from AMD users, this version on windows comes with 3 flavours of S20J, the KL version of openJpeg. Safe, Normal and Extreme.
By default the viewer uses the 'Normal' SSE2 version. The 'Safe' version has no tweaks at all, but is still newer than the LL variant. The 'Extreme' version is built against hardware, via intels compiler so will work ONLY for dualies and quads of intel origin. The difference between Safe to Extreme can be as much as 2 secs per scene.
To use any particular flavour go into the program folder and rename the decoder of choice openJPEG.dll.
Notifications have been fixed for all languages, and a shed load of testing anyway this version should give good performance and be much more stable in busy areas.
Much Love and Respect, KL

Awesome! So far no crashes with either of my AMD machines like the test build (38)... FPS is a little higher than (37)... Big news for me is that I can use 2/4/8X AA with lighting and shadows now!!! YAY!! (still goes grey if I turn on GI, but that's not a deal breaker by any means)
Ty, ty, ty. I can't wait to get home in 5-1/2 hours and give it a test drive with the extreme version turned on.
extreme seems to work here with my system
AMD Phenom II X4 965
4gb Ram
ATI Radeon HD4850
OpenGL is 3.3 at the 10.6 Version of Catalyst
The extreme version of the DLL is working on both of my AMD machines too (KL must know that the best way to get volunteers to test it is to tell us that it wouldn't work!) My machines are: AMD Phenom II X4 955 (3.2GHz), 4GB, 5770 and Win7 64; and AMD Athlon X2 5600+ (2.8GHz), 6GB, 4770 and Win7 64.
seems to work for me too , AMD Phenom II X4 965
4GB RAM
Geforce GTX 460
WIndows 7 Home Premium 64x
Well seems I did something right
makes a note for future builds
first observation, working great.Noticed transpareny is gone in all panels except my friends and when detached it can't be shrunk past the default size. Which is a shame as I was recommending people shrink it down in near me mode and place it in the corner to use as a radar substitute
actually you CAN shrink it , you have to move your cursor in the right upper corner of the floater NOT in the lower corner!
Really ? think I said it can't be shrunk PAST a certain size. It's nowhere near the level you could shrink the window previously. Kirstenlee has already explained why it's been change in group IM.
hmm for some reason i cant change my clothes or skin lol is that one of the side effects to the temp texlayer crash fix? anyone else can change? :S
@Kris: ppl around you see you with right dresses?
extreme love my computer so much... i am in love of the viewer
Please excuse the stupid question but is it possible to compile a build using the AMD compiler instead of the Intel to better support the quad cores from AMD.
@Altair, yea they see me just fine, but i still cannot change my appearance seems, skin and clothing wise even after logging wearing it. If i go back to a older build everything works just fine.
from previous version you can do a check.... tp in a empty place (or your home), take off *ALL* (tp friends if you want meanwhile
), give a "clear cache" and logoff.
login again (after few mins, don't force the login) and open inventory, search somethign to resync it from Linden asset, when counter on top of window stop wear again.
this should work (and should be done everytime you change viewer
i tried all of that already, does not work. Only a older version of the viewer works perfect.
i run on an AMD and I didn't even have problems with the test build of 38.. just for note
Many thanks, to both Kirsten and Altair. I look forward to trying out the Linux version.
Same problem here with my skin and my clothes. I can't change it. The strange thing is that my skin, when I wear it appears with my tatoo even if I don't wear it :O
I took off all, cleared the cache, relogged after 5 or 6 mins (different times)...still the same problem.
Please when report this kind of problem report too operating system and which DLL are you using

@ Beponka , same problem for me here, not changing clothes and skins , seems like Rebaking of textures doesnt work at all , changing the skin and then open the Edit my Shape seems to rebake the skin but not clothes, Rebake Combination and Option itself doesnt work too
Can Confirm the Bug,
Checked with all DLL except the old llkdu.

Ubuntu 10.10 Beta 64bit with only the 32bit libs I needed for Kirstens and openBVE. Vid card is a 9600GSO 768gb card, no tweaks. Runs SWEEEEET...... I get a ticking in the graphics after TP for a few but mainly if I start from terminal, it is almost gone if I run without a terminal open. Skin and clothing problem here too. I get around it by going in and out of Appearance and waiting a few secs in between til my cloths stay correct. If I go to fast they switch back. All else is great, fps in the 70's to 90's depending on where I am.
It seems like this viewer keeps getting buggier with every release. The moment I updated my pants textures absolutely refuse to load. I've tried everything. I cleared the cache multiple times, went into appearance mode, rebaked textures, relogged, took off the clothes and put them back on, everything.
Please make it less buggy...
Ah glad to see I'm not the only one, I was just coming to check if anyone else had the skin/clothes problem.

Kirsten and all who help, wanted to say how much I appreciate all you do!!! Kirstens is " MY" Viewer and has been for some time. Sure I might go peek at Linden viewer from time to time, but most my play time is right here. It's the best viewer out there. So thank you all for what you do, You are appreciated!!!!! Patience
Installation has changed. Rather than just extracting an archive, it's a shell script. That's all well and good, but, when I ran it, it complained about not being able to find /etc/refresh_desktop_app_entry.sh. That looked like the last thing it did, so I tried running it by hand. If it was supposed to add it to my menu, it didn't work; I couldn't find it... though perhaps that's cached somehow and I should log out and back in for it to show up. I can run it by hand, or create my own launcher on the panel for that matter, so it's not a big deal.
Oops... that's what I get for trying to enclose something in less than and greater than. That should have been [my home directory]/Kirsten_20/etc/refresh_desktop_app_entry.sh
im very angry and mad with kristen,
WTH is crash me so damn bad when i do shadows? till now everything was damn OK!
but now is crash me so bad!
WHY!?
the rebake issue is not confined to Kirsten's it seems. Happening to people using other viewers also. But not to me... go figure!
on windows: baking issue when editing appearance, I get stuck without clothe layer, and newbie skin
on linux: takes awhile for the viewer to load, messes up the sound system making my computer mute until i reboot
Windows 7, 64 Bit / Ubuntu 10.04, 32 Bit

GeForce GTS 250 1gb
